What's the time? Mendoza, Argentina

Jan 20.

As I walked down the streets of Medoza with Dan I asked him what the time was.
If Japan is the far far future, when are we now?

The air is dry and hot but the streets are lined with green trees. Shops close between 1 and 5 or so and then stay open till 9 or 10. No one eats dinner before 10 or 11pm. Breakfast is open at the hostel from 7 till 10 or 10:30 or whenever the people can be bothered to put it away.

Dan says he's not sure what time it is. It's like the present, we agree, but better in many ways. Nevada could have been this but instead it's towns like Reno. What the fuck Nevada? Mendoza has old buildings, streets lined with trees, and parks where people sit in the shade all day just making out as if the world wasn't watching.

You're amazing, beautiful, talented, and brilliant. Oh, and I think about you quite often :) I wish terribly I had the capacity for your kind of adventure, but I have to be on my own adveture at the moment. Some day, I think we should join forces in this endeavor. Only AWESOME could come of it.

I love the photos of Argentina! My voice teacher, who I absolutely love, is Argentinian. Through your photos, I get a distinct sense of him. It must be a wonderful place, and an even better place with you in it.

So, I've got to confess that I'm a bit surprised to see Che iconography actually showing up in Argentina. I just sort of assumed that his image was appropriated by left-leaning American college students (guilty, there, by the way...) and didn't actually pop up in it's supposed "real" context. Interesting.

The place looks beautiful, though. Can't wait to see more of your pictures.

No pictures of people making out in the parks?

I'm not actually clear on how exactly Nevada could have not sucked (or been more like Argentina). Care to explain? Unless you were just randomly ripping on Nevada just, well, cuz Nevada. I can endorse that.

Anthony said what I was going to say!

And yes, I remember where your blog is, obviously. I love reading your writing. Wish I could be there.
